Menopause - The Ultimate Survival Game

As I write this, I am fast approaching my 40th birthday, and I can say with a sigh of relief that I am out of the child-bearing period of my life.  My friends are all around my age or older, and many of them are beginning to experience “the change”.  Now that my radar is much more focused on what happens as our bodies mature into the menopausal stage of life, I can see how different this experience is for some women compared to others.  What absolutely shocks me, though, is the complete lack of attention paid to menopausal women by almost everybody in society – including the health care community!

Why do some women have migraines start in menopause and others don’t?  Why are some women turning the thermostat down to 65 degrees and freezing their husbands out while others are putting on an extra layer of clothing to keep warm?  Why are some women sleepless and dribbling when they laugh or sneeze while others sail through this rite of passage like it never happened?  There is absolutely a physiological reason why our bodies go through menopause.  It revolves around the fact that when we hit a certain age, childbearing would go against our bodies’ survival wisdom.  We no longer need a monthly cycle because we no longer need to have kids.  The change in hormones, neurochemicals and our physical structure creates a different environment in our bodies.  But this shouldn’t be a bad thing!  When a women has a difficult time with symptoms of menopause, it is because her body has stopped following the innate program that was placed inside her body – the program that would allow her to age with joy and comfort.  The question I would have for you is “why isn’t her body following the program anymore?”

The system that creates all health, healing and normal development in your body is your nervous system.  When your brain communicates with your body normally via the nervous system, all systems are a go.  When there is interference to the normal function of the nervous system, your body cannot function properly and the result can be hyper-responsive symptoms of menopause.  Chiropractors call this interference “subluxations”, and it can create critical problems in your body.  By correcting these subluxations, your body can only work better.  That can mean a much more enjoyable season of menopause in your life.   If you are suffering from menopause, call us – we can help!
